the reason why we have (and need) the checks and balances is what I referred to in my post. I'll give you an example. I know of a prosecutor who lost a close family member to a drunk driver. Needless to say, in DUI cases, this guy absolutely cannot be reasoned with. No deals whatsoever, he goes for blood.

Fortunately, the judge in that county is a little more methodical in his decision-making, and if you plead guilty before him, he usually gives you a fair sentence appropriate to the crime. Now, if that prosecutor is ever elected judge, you won't be able to plead open in front of him. You will either have to hope for a reasonable prosecutor, or that's why we have the court of appeals.

Either way, you have to have checks because people's beliefs manifest themselves, sometimes to an irrational degree.

Thanks. I prefer to think it's talent. Though to tell the truth it was pretty much a hack and slash rush job but it's nice to be appreciated
